Story Oasis Development Hub in collaboration with the GFC is pleased to announce a call to submit proposals for short films that require development. We are searching for 3 aspirant filmmakers who will be guided in the development of their stories - 3 x 24 min short scripts. Call Extended to the 13th November 2020

Story Oasis aims to provide Gauteng based writers from historically disadvantaged backgrounds with an opportunity to develop their concepts into a script.AIMS:
● To develop new talent and perspectives in screenwriting.
● To create an enabling environment for the writer to develop a story using the online storysessions and master classes nurture.

Scripts will be developed and workshopped in a virtual space over a 4-month development period that will end with an online session in April 2021, where producers and TV executives will be invited to give feedback.

THROUGH THE FIRE:A theme that literally or figuratively is represented in a film.

1. Writer with mid-level experience in the industry.
2. Be a historically disadvantaged individual.
3. Be able to set aside time over a period of 4-months to attend the online sessions and deliver the various milestones. There will only be a monthly data stipend available to the selected three (3)writers.

● Demonstrate an engaging written concept for a 24-minute stand-alone film in alignment with the theme.
● Gauteng based writers only to apply.
● Demonstrate familiarity with the tools of scriptwriting and must have a skill to implement notes.
● Be willing to commit to the schedule, weekly sessions and weekly milestone deliverables for 4months.
● Demonstrate a writing profile.

All applications should be able to provide the following documentation for consideration:
1. A treatment, script or concept document for a 24-minute film including treatment, characterbible, detailed synopsis.
2. Motivation letter or letter of intent.
3. Tell us what your favourite film is and why. (no longer than 1 page).
