The first season of ‘Township Bioscope’ successfully came to a close in March this year. The six month run of the project involved the screening of more than 96 movies in 18 townships across Gauteng covering all of the six provincial regions.

According to Thabiso Masudubele, Project Manager for GFC, the project has been a success. “In venues such as Sans Souci in Kliptown the magic of the silver screen has been relived. The incredible support and interest generated for the project has been tremendous. In April we hope to announce the launch of the second season”, says Masudubele.

‘Township Bioscope’ is a joint initiative by the Gauteng Film Commission and the Film Resource Unit with the aim to develop a township film circuit.
