handover of Input to the South African organising committee at Input 2007 which was held in Lugano, Switzerland earlier in June this year.

The annual event is dedicated to the promotion of quality television programming and serves as a global meeting point for the television community. Each year it is held in a different country with programming sourced from around the world. Input is seen as a unique professional development platform for producers, directors, writers and the television community at large.

According to the South African organisors the theme for Input 2008 is ‘back to the beginning’ and is in reference to Africa’s status, and Gauteng’s in particular, as the Cradle of Humankind.

Input 2008 carries the support of SABC, National Film and Video Foundation, Gauteng Tourism Authority and the GFC.

According to GFC Chief Executive Terry Tselane, Input 2008 reaffirms Gauteng’s position as Africa’s leading centre for television and film.
