A new eight-screen cinema complex has opened at the recently launched Maponya Mall in Soweto, making this the first of its kind cinema complex in the world-famous township. With a combined seating capacity for 1,400 patrons, the complex offers state-of-the-art screening technology and plush interiors.

According to Ster-Kinekor the opening of this Junction outlet should be seen as proof of its commitment to bringing top quality entertainment to all South Africans. Says Ster-Kinekor CEO Fiaz Mahomed, “Maponya Mall is set to become a key destination and it’s an obvious place for us to be.”

Whilst Soweto is home to a number of historic cinemas, many of these, such as Sans Souci in Kliptown is now sadly dilapidated with patrons having to commute outside of the township to enjoy commercial releases on the silver screen.

According to Ster-Kinekor tickets will cost R16.00 per screening.
