GFC has partnered with Atlas Studios in support of the First Wednesday Club, a platform for exposure for independent filmmakers, and a networking forum for those in the film and TV industry.

The screenings take place on the first Wednesday of every month. Tonight's screening is Miss Sgodiphola, by Andrew Kasrils, also known as The Admiral. The 12min film about a beauty pageant is The Admiral's film debut. Kasrils, a celebrated music artist in South Africa, is now branching into filmmaking. And after the screening, there'll be a Q/A session with Kasrils, followed by partying with DJ Jah Seed and The Admiral himself.

"The FWFC provides a platform for independent filmmakers to network, creating an opportunity for producers to meet and enabling critical engagement between filmmakers," comments Kgomotso Tabane, Audience Development Projects Officer at the GFC. "As our mandate includes development of the industry, we see our support of the FWFC as a means to develop networking and grow the industry."
