The growing interest in animation was highlighted at a recent launch in Johannesburg by Touchvision Digital Media Solutions of, in addition to Animate Pro, their Toon Boom product, described as a "serious tool for serious animators".

Touchvision claim that Toon Boom is the most complete animation software for professionals, offering award winning state of the art content creation, animation and compositing toolset for any animation style within a single all in one desktop application.

The presentation, held at the Video Lab building in Blairgowrie,was exceptionally well attended by a large cross section ofthe animation industry, including Cobus Prinsloo from the University of Pretoria - Department of Visual Arts; Shannan Taylor, as well as 3D animator Tristan Winslow from Monster Studios; Quentin Haffern from Realtime Pictures; Patrick Ray Howitt and Johnny Taute from Iline Studios; and Dustin Smith from Boston Media House, to name but a few.

"In total, there were some 40 attendees," says Ronel Fortune of Touchvision Digital Media Solutions. "The large number reinforces the growing interest in animation and the latest developments in this technology."
