This month we take a look at two commercials shot in Gauteng, for Renault Sandero and Engen, both directed by well-known director, Miles Goodall.

Sub urban's Renault Sandero shoot a production of firsts

On set of Renault shoot
Not only was it the first Renault commercial produced in South Africa, but after weeks of consultation with the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) and the help of Isaac Maake and Themba Nkosi, Sub urban pulled out all the stops to be the first production company to successfully shoot in Ghandi Square during the week, at peak hour.

Nkosi explained that Sub urban was the first production company to follow the correct procedures to obtain permission to shoot in Ghandi Square and that the shoot was good preparation for big events to come.

Along with the JMPD, the Gauteng Film Commission (GFC) also played a huge role in making the shoot a success.  Seitiso Mogoshane of the GFC says:  "The GFC is very proud that Johannesburg was used as the background for the Renault commercial. Filmmakers have obviously recognised the city's potential."

The Renault that featured in the commercial was also the first Renault manufactured in South Africa for 30 years.

This commercial is all about fun!
