joziSubmissions are now open for the third annual Jozi Film Festival 2014, which will take place in venues across Johannesburg from 21-23 February next year.

Competition categories include: Best Feature Film, Best Feature Documentary Film, Best Documentary Short, Best Fiction Short, Best Animated Film, Best Student Film, Best Mobile Phone Film and an Audience Choice Award.

We are also excited to announce the addition of an international documentary film category. We feel the addition will add to our line-up for next year. We have chosen to focus on the documentary genre as we believe there are many great films being made around the world about issues we as South Africans can relate to but that documentaries don’t always get the exposure they deserve. We also aim to attract the directors and those involved in the documentary world to participate in our festival, in order to share their experience and knowledge with us. We have unique stories in Jozi and we want to inspire Jo’burg filmmakers to get these told.

Our main focus remains providing a platform for local filmmakers telling stories about our city and screening films made in and about Johannesburg.
