Invitation to screening of hip hop documentary Ladies First


The film is being screened at 18:30 sharp, so please be on time to witness this amazing piece of work.

Ladies First is a 45-minute documentary produced by Where Is The Beef Media which explores the involvement of women in the South African hip hop culture. The documentary gives an inside look at how women have affected rap music and in turn how rap music affects female MCs, and explores why there are far fewer female than male MCs.

Featured interviewees include: Rouge (David Gresham), Gigi La Mayne (Mabala Noise), Zinzi Kahnish (Native Rhythms), Ms Cosmo (5 FM), Lex La Foy (Dis Guis), Yugen Blakrok (Iapetus Records), Patty Monroe (Cape Town MC), Levi Chetty (PR/Artist Manager), Refi Sings (Soul Musician), Linda Mash (Super Model), Fifi Cooper (Ambitious Records), Ntsiki Mazwai (Activist/Poet), Jalettua Nuune (Songstress), Tazner Slater (Freestyler) and LootLove (SABC 1 Presenter).

The screening will include an all-female Creative Round Table Discussion and a post-film discussion with the film's director on subjects from the film.

The screening will be complemented by live performances from the finest female talents, including NIRVANA, 2LEE, JALLETUA NUUNE, LINDA MASH, ANGELINA NIMAH, TYPHOON (The Violinist) & NTANDO (The Ballerina). Hosted by SAMMY SOSA.
