Entries have opened for the second Kleinkaap Short Film Festival, which takes place at the Kleinkaap Boutique Hotel in Centurion, outside Pretoria, from 28 to 30 July.
According to a statement from the organisers, the Kleinkaap Short Film Festival (KSFF) supports "outstanding and creative stories that have not received exposure in South Africa".
Narrative, documentary and animated short films (up to 30 minutes in length), in multiple genres and from around the world, will be considered for screening at the festival.
South Africans can enter for free until 28 February, after which a small fee will apply. Short films can be submitted here.
The selected short films will be judged and selected by a South African panel, with KSFF awards for international and local shorts including Best Film, Best Director, Best Cinematographer and more.
The festival also promotes plausible collaboration between local and international filmmakers, creating a platform for networking in South Africa. Attendees will have a chance to meet industry professionals such as agents and casting directors, while Q&A sessions with well-known filmmakers will give the public the opportunity to learn more about the industry.
The second Kleinkaap Short Film Festival will be hosted by Kleinkaap Boutique Hotel, Springbok Cinema and Twin Hearts Production.
Mari Molefe van Heerden, Keyuri Naidoo and Reine Swart are the main driving force behind the KSFF, together with the Kleinkaap team and the KSFF judges.
