GFC and AAA Entertainment partner for a series of advanced Film and TV Accelerator Workshop

The Gauteng Film Commission (GFC) and AAA Entertainment have partnered to host a series of Advanced Distribution and Financing Accelerator Workshops for film and television content between January and March. The workshops will be held in Johannesburg at Big Fish School of Film and hosted by AAA Entertainment’s Mayenzeke Baza and Pascal Schmitz with a guest speaker at each workshop relevant to the topic being covered.

These workshops form part of the GFC’s mandate to build a strong destination brand for the Gauteng film industry and the GFC is committed to marketing Gauteng as an internationally celebrated global city region through film. Representing the hub of the South African film industry, the Commission's brand seeks to reflect the vibrancy, diversity and colourfulness of the greater Gauteng region.
The next workshop will be taking place on Tuesday the 14th of March. The workshops are open to any interested filmmakers or producers who are looking to expand their knowledge in the area of distribution and financing. The four workshops will be on the following topics and dates :

  • 26 January - Festivals and Markets : Understanding them and having a strategy
  • 23 February - Distribution and Sales : Requirements and selecting a sales and distribution partner - Guest speaker Jon Smith from Hoplite Entertainment LLC, Los Angeles
  • 14 March - Entertainment Law : Contracts and legal Requirements for distribution and financing
  • 28 March - Financing : The various models and pitfalls of financing film and TV content
