Bioskop Ya Kasi project is dedicated to build audience development in the form of film screenings to children and young people. The objective of the initiative is to create and promote a culture of watching local films produced by our own filmmakers here in Mzansi. The event conceptualizes the ten days’ school vacation program in a children’s cinematic structure to inspire, delight, educate, and connect a diverse community of children and families through screenings, filmmaking workshops, and free activities, along with post-film conversations that help deepen the film-watching experience and foster critical thinking skills to children from tender age of 5 to 16 years old.

Our Project Objectives

  •  To excite the audience by increasing the appetite for local content consumption through Bioskop Ya Kasi.
  •  To encourage locals together with friends and families to support local content produced in their own country. (In a way we will be supporting the achievements of filmmakers within the creative space.  To educate children and youth of SA about films and cinema.
  •  To encourage and to develop audiences from a young age to be able to identify with our local artists as their heroes.
  •  Promote local content and to relieve lockdown/COVID-19 stress and depression by going out to movies in a different and safe way.
  •  To create conversations on various social issues through local films.
  • We are very excited to create a platform that will see 50 – 100 children (everyday) supporting the screening of local content and working towards developing audiences from a young age.
