In Focus: Where is your company based?
Palm: We're in Brighton Road, Brighton Park Bramley View.

In Focus: Tell us a bit about your business.
Palm: Limousine & Chauffeur Transportation was formed in 1997 by Bill Blair. The motivation behind the start-up was when a client requested a stretch limousine for a function and no limousines were available in the country. Blair saw the market opportunity and today we are the leading limousine company in Johannesburg. At the time, Blair also noted that there was the need for chauffeur drive in and around the Johannesburg metropolitan area focusing specifically on safe, reliable, affordable and compatible transport to the corporate market.

In Focus:
How do you handle insurance and the safety aspects of these types of vehicles?
Palm: In order to insure the safety and protection of our passengers, Limousine & Chauffeur Transportation complies with all the necessary insurance requirements. We have passenger liability but do not offer insurance for personal items. Upon request we can issue copies of the relevant insurance cover.

In Focus: Is there much competition in your line of business?
Palm: Limousine and Chauffeur Transportation is the only South African member of the National Limousine Association, which is based in the United States. We abide by their code of conduct and principles, and have the advantage of keeping up to date with our industry from fellow NLA members around the world.

In Focus: Your staff - are they all professional drivers?
Palm: Our chauffeurs have been hand-picked and selected to ensure that a professional and unequalled standard. Once trained to our specific standard, which would include chauffeur etiquette, driving techniques (offensive & defensive driving skills), as well as protocol when dealing with corporate or private clients, they are then given the final approval by professionally trained personnel. All our staff sign a confidentiality clause to protect client privacy.

In Focus: What type of vehicles do you offer?
Palm: We have Limos, Sedans, Rolls Royces, Sports cars, a London cab and others.

In Focus: Please describe your core business.
Weise: Macro Video is an importer and distributor of high quality video production, multimedia and associated equipment in Southern Africa. We are up to date with the latest in digital video technology and import equipment from Europe, America and the Far East.

In Focus: Where do you operate from?
Weise: We are based in Pretoria, but please note we are not a shop and see clients by appointment only.

In Focus: Please list some of the products that you supply.
Weise: Macro Video is the sole importer of Datavideo and Casablanca video equipment in Southern Africa as well as the agents for a number of well known international companies. We supply Digital to Analogue converters, Mixers/switchers, mobile video studios, Character Generators, Firewire scan converters, LCD monitors, Chroma keyers, Standards Converters, Video Content Servers, Hard disc recorders, DV Cables and repeaters, TBC and Distribution Amplifiers, DVD recorders, Intercom systems, Video players etc.

In Focus: Do you provide back up?
Weise: Equipment made in Germany is backed up locally in English and German.

In Focus: Give us an example of a sale of your products.
Weise: We sold Dead Easy Dac 2 converters to ZSE TV in Johannesburg. The Datavideo Dac 2 was used by this leading South African post production house on a Discovery channel production.
